Laura Edman
Lecturer of Music Laura EdmanLecturer of Music D.M.A., University of Minnesota Office Phone: 715-425-3778 Laura Edman is an active performer in the St. Croix Valley and substitute organist in the Twin Cities area. Edman recently received a DMA in organ performance at the University of Minnesota and was a student of Dean Billmeyer. Her organ teachers have included Heinrich Fleischer, Russell Saunders and Robert Luther. In addition to being appointed organ instructor at the University of Wisconsin – River Falls in 2006, Edman teaches organ privately and sings in The Valley Chamber Chorale. She served on the Twin Cities American Guild of Organist’s Board of Directors from 2004-2007 and on the Workshops Committee for the national convention of the American Guild of Organists held in the Twin Cities in June 2008. Her most recent position was at The Church of St. Michael in Stillwater where she served as organist for fourteen years. Edman has performed extensively at Trinity Lutheran Church and The Church of St. Michael in Stillwater. She was a participant in the Minnesota Bach Festival in 2000 and performed Poulenc’s Concerto for Organ, Strings and Timpani at Trinity in April 2009. In 2007 she was one of five participants in the Summer Institute for French Organ Studies that took place in Poitiers and Epernay, France. The two-week institute provides the opportunity for participants to play historic organs and perform public recitals. Since joining the music faculty at UWRF Edman has performed on the 1975 Hendrickson organ in Abbott Hall with the St. Croix Valley Orchestra, the River Falls Brass, and the UWRF Concert Choir.
