Stanley King
Lecturer of Music Stanley KingLecturer of Music M.M., Manhattan School of Music Office Phone: 715-425-3778 He has recorded extensively with such groups as Concentus Musicus of Vienna, London’s Academy of Ancient Music, Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, American Bach Soloists, the Smithsonian Chamber Orchestra, Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra, the Plymouth Music Series Orchestra and the Minnesota Sinfonia. He was a Faculty Member at Oberlin College Conservatory’s Baroque Performance Institute. Principal Oboe with the Minnesota Sinfonia , Mr. King is also Solo Oboe and Oboe d’ Amore with The Lyra Baroque Orchestra. He served as Principal Oboe for the Washington (D.C.) Ballet Orchestra from 1981 to 2002. Since moving to the Twin Cities area in 1992 he also performs with the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, Minnesota Opera Orchestra, Philomusica, the Minnesota Contemporary Ensemble, The Wolfgang Ensemble, the DuluthSymphony and the St. Scholastica Faculty Baroque Ensemble in Duluth. Mr. King teaches oboe at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and has recently completed a new performing edition of one of the so-called "Dresden Concerti," which are pieces written by Johann David Heinichen to showcase the court orchestra at Dresden.
